June 2014 - VILLAGE OF ANDRANODAMBO, MADAGASCAR - Gendarmes from the military operation "Coup d'Arrêt", intended to fight against dahalo (zebu thieves) in the southern regions of Madagascar, patrol the ruins of the village of 'Andranodambo victim of an attack from the neighboring village of Ambatotsivala located 4km further. Andranodambo, a large village of about 2000 inhabitants, was completely destroyed. Its inhabitants, now homeless, have taken refuge in Tranomaro and Amboasary-Sud. The inhabitants of Ambatotsivala, considered as dahalo by the military authorities, had fled to the nearby mountains.
