Antananarivo, Madagascar - Andry Rajoelina (center), accompanied by his Prime Minister, Monja Roindefo, and his wife, Mialy Rajoelina, at the traditional military parade of 26 June. Andry Rajoelina instigated the conflict that opposed him to Ravalomanana. Aided by a people opposed to Ravalomanana's politics and especially by some of the military, he succeeded in taking over power on 17 March 2009 at the end of a conflict that left over 100 dead. Since that date, he has been named President of the HAT and faces criticism from the international community.
